The Jeannette Neill Dance Studio Repertory Concert
The Jeannette Neill Dance Studio student/faculty repertory concerts are produced twice yearly at the Tsai Performance Center. Students of the studio choose a teacher or choreographer with whom they would like to work, then spend ten weeks developing and learning a piece of choreography. The rehearsal period ends with a week of blocking, lighting and technical rehearsals, dress rehearsal and performances on two consecutive evenings.
These concerts offer students invaluable performance experience. They also give professional choreographers a testing ground in which to develop new works for their own companies. The repertory experience engenders a love and respect for dance, thereby increasing Boston’s dance audience in general. Offering non-professional dancers the chance to participate in a professional and well-produced concert and to share the stage with professional dancers allows them to experience the thrill of live performance and to appreciate the discipline and artistry of professional dance.
